Treatment: Ulthera®

What is Ultherapy?

Ultherapy - a treatment using Ulthera® is a non invasive and effective therapy that utilizes intense focused ultrasound. It is the same ultrasound technology that has been safely used for over 50 years for medical imaging. Skin laxity which is a normal result of aging and gravity is a very common complaint. Until recently the usual remedy was surgical but due to the recent innovations in technology non invasive solutions can now also be quite effective. There isn't a replacement for the dramatic effects of surgery, but Ultherapy offers a natural, 'no downtime' approach to noticeably improving lax skin. Without harming the outer layer of the skin Ultherapy penetrates deeply below the surface firming, lifting and tightening the skin.

How does it work?

Intense focused ultrasound penetrates deeply within the facial tissues producing energy and heat at a precise depth. Ultherapy enables the sound waves to be directed not only into the skin but deep under the skin to the same tissues that are addressed during a surgical face lift. Gentle heat to the tissue lifts and tightens loose skin without cutting or disrupting the surface of the skin. Besides the visible effects of lifting and tightening, there is also an invisible result from Ultherapy with the creation of new collagen, which helps the skin maintain its youthfulness.

Can Ultherapy be used on all areas?

Ultherapy can be used anywhere on the face and neck. A full facial treatment is most effective; however treatments to specific areas such as to lift the brow can produce great results. One of the first effects of gravity is that the brows descend, and the eyes start to appear smaller. Ultherapy will lift the brow, which in turn reduces the excess skin on the lids, opens up the eyes and gives a more refreshed appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I suitable for Ultherapy?

All skin types can be treated. Good candidates for Ultherapy are healthy but with the skin starting to sag or feel less firm. Ultherapy does not require any preparation for treatment.

How long does the treatment take?

The treatment can take from 30 minutes to an hour and there is no down time. You can immediately return to your day to day routine.

How long will it be until I see results?

Immediately after treatment most will see a noticeable improvement however the full effect will not be seen until at least 30 to 60 days after treatment as the collagen and tissues respond to the treatment. The effect can be long lasting. Many clients will have firmer and tighter skin with the added benefits of increased tone and a more youthful appearance.

How will I look after the treatment?

Immediately after the treatment you may see some redness that typically resolves in a few hours.

Do I need more than one treatment?

Most clients will experience visible results after only one treatment.

How long will the results last?

Since your skin will continue to age, over time you may wish to have further treatments to maintain the improvements gained from the first treatment. We recommend that after one year we reassess and compare to the results achieved.

Is Ultherapy safe?

Ultrasound energy has been medically used for more than 50 years. Common side effects can include redness and mild tenderness which usually only last a few hours. Less common side effects are mild bruising and swelling.
