What is TITAN^®

TITAN is a safe, non-surgical procedure which uses infrared light to tighten skin and help to reverse the signs of aging. The treatment heats the dermis, causing contraction of collagen fibres while ongoing cooling protects the epidermis. This procedure results in the production of increased amounts of new collagen leaving you with firmer, younger-looking skin. You will see immediate results from what has been called the ‘lunchtime face lift’. However, several months later you will benefit from increases in the level of collagen and elastin fibres, giving the skin more strength, a firmer feel and more elasticity or tightness.

What can TITAN do and how does it work?

The TITAN procedure uses a blended infrared light source to reverse the signs of aging by a significant heating of the dermis. This essentially tricks the body into repairing the skin by creating new collagen. The skin contracts from the applied heat, producing an immediate tightening effect. Following the treatment, collagen and elastin production is stimulated and will continue at an increased level over approximately the next 6 months, which further improves the appearance of the skin.

The infrared light source delivers uniform, even heating to the dermal layer of the skin to a depth of 2.5 mm. After pre-cooling the treatment area, continuous cooling is used to protect the skin during treatment. The heat profile provides immediate collagen contraction which leads to long-term collagen rebuilding. As heat spreads from the treatment area, post-cooling protects the epidermis.

What areas can be treated?

The TITAN procedure treats lax and redundant skin throughout the body. The most frequent areas treated are the abdomen, thighs, and arms as well as facial areas where it can be used to lift and tighten skin on the face and neck.

Are there risks?

The TITAN procedure utilizes a blend of invisible frequencies of light that is designed to heat the dermal layer of the skin while protecting the epidermis. After treatment it is common to see either no surface irritation or some mild redness or irritation that resolves very quickly. The procedure is virtually painless, cost-effective and non-surgical; a treatment that safely and effectively delivers a more youthful appearance

Is it painful?

The laser pulse if often described as “a wave of heat that gradually increases during the 5 – 7 second pulse of the TITAN”. The TITAN laser is equipped with a skin cooling system which allows for continuous cooling of the epidermis to avoid discomfort during treatment. Our patients also choose TITAN since it does not require the use of pain relieving medications – this is unlike Thermage^® treatments which can be extremely painful.

When will I see results?

Some people see results immediately. Often you will begin to see tightening in the treated area about 3 weeks following treatment and improvements can continue up to 6 months after treatment.

What areas are most often treated?

TITAN treatments are used on the upper face to tighten the forehead and bring about a subtle but effective lifting of the eyebrows. On the lower face and neck loose skin can be firmed, resulting in a tighter jaw line, reduction of folds and sagging skin on the neck. Loose abdominal skin resulting from child bearing can be firmed up by TITAN, as can sagging skin on the upper arms. Hands readily show the effects of aging. TITAN can firm up the loose skin and when combined with Laser Genesis^® (to improve skin texture) and IPL (to remove undesirable brown spots) the results can be quite dramatic.

Who can be treated?

The best candidates are in their 40s to 50s, an age when we are beginning to have some reduction in skin elasticity. TITAN is also ideal for someone in their 30s or 40s who is ready to augment their beauty regimen with a non-invasive procedure that yields subtle yet noticeable results. Without significant pain or downtime, it can erase years and achieve a more vibrant and refreshed look. The procedure is appropriate for you if you have noticed that your face and neck are not as taut as they once were or if you are a new mother and your tummy isn’t as tight and smooth as it used to be, or if you have experienced weight loss and need to tighten loose skin.
