Treatment: Laser vein therapy

About Laser vein therapy

Laser treatment works best for small and medium-size spider veins. Varicose veins are best treated by sclerotherapy as are large spider veins. With our Cutera Xeo laser system vein removal can be done in a quick and easy way. There is no cure for spider veins but laser therapy can reduce or eliminate their unsightly appearance.

How does laser vein therapy work?

The laser produces an intense, but focused, beam of energy that destroys the unwanted vein, which is then naturally eliminated by the body.

Can anyone benefit from laser vein therapy?

Yes, if you are in good health with no problems associated with your circulatory system. You will be required to fill out a medical history. An examination of the problem veins will determine the type of therapy that is recommended (Sclerotherapy or laser).

Frequently Asked Questions

What will I see after the laser vein therapy treatment?

The treated spider veins will be darker and more visible but will fade over the next 2 to 6 weeks. We recommend at least 3 treatments to occur at planned intervals. In many cases facial spider veins disappear after treatment, but several treatments are needed to ensure an optimum result. You may encounter some minor bruising or discomfort after treatment, but this will quickly recede.

How many treatments will I need?

In general there is a requirement for multiple treatments in order to gain maximum improvement. The number of treatments required, are dependent on several factors, can only be determined during your consultation.

What does laser vein therapy feel like?

It feels like a small rubber band snapping against the skin. The laser treatment is well-tolerated and pain relieving medication or local anaesthetic is usually not required.

How long does the laser vein therapy treatment take?

You can plan on spending an hour at the clinic. There is no downtime associated with laser vein therapy. The risks associated with laser vein therapy are minimal. Your eyes will be shielded during the treatments. We use state-of-the-art cooling systems, thus the treatments are low risk and relatively pain-free.
