reserve your place nowHeadaches can be due to many causes. They may be associated with muscle tension or a jaw problem. Many people have had headaches diagnosed as migraine. Others develop headaches following injury to the neck and back as is common after motor vehicle accidents.
Back pain also has many causes. When the pain is associated with tight painful muscles BOTOX® can provide localized relief. Jaw pain can trouble people who have developed problems arising in the temporo mandicular joints.
It can be an effective treatment to prevent excessive sweating. BOTOX® is approved to treat the symptoms of severe sweating when medicines used on the skin (topical) do not work well enough.
BOTOX® is injected into the affected areas to help control this condition by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands. When the sweat glands don’t receive chemical signals, the severe sweating stops.
When you experience muscle spasms, it is because your nerve cells are sending signals directly to your muscles. BOTOX® works by blocking these signals causing your muscles to become overactive and tense up.
You may also experience neck pain and BOTOX® is believed to work in a similar way to block the nerve signals that cause neck pain, resulting in relief. BOTOX® Therapeutic can also be used in the treatment of back pain and headaches.
The full effect of the treatment with BOTOX® is usually attained within 10 days. The treatment may take up to an hour and the benefit may last 8 months.
Many extended health plans cover the all or some of the cost of this treatment, so you should check with your insurer, since approval is not automatic.
If you are pregnant or breast feeding or have some neurological disorders or allergies you should not be treated. Before treatment you will be asked to fill out a health questionnaire which will be reviewed prior to treatment.
